Interlocking Paving Blocks

Interlocking Blocks For Heavy Duty Roads, Internal Roads and Yards.

Choosing the Right Paver for Vehicular Traffic

All the Pavements Subjected to Vehicular Loads, other than in Domestic situations should be Constructed with Chamfered Pavers. To Provide Stability Resistance to Creap under One Directional Traffic Flow, for ease of Laying and Good Appearance, Shape Rectangular Paving Units are Well Selected. Recommended Paving Thickness is 60 mm / 80 mm for Medium Duty and Heavy Duty respectively. These Units Control the spread of Joints in Two Directions and Perform Better than Other Shapes.

Effect of Interlocking Paver : For Road Works

  • The Occurrence of Material Damages Caused by Accidents, Rear and Collisions, Etc., can be Greatly Reduced.
  • Improvement of Braking Effect.
  • Amelioration of Visible Recognition.
  • The Percentage of Failure of the Blocks may be 0.2 %.

The Principle Advantages of interlocking Paver Blocks

ACCURACY

Being Moulded in Concrete they are Dimensionally Accurate and Consistent, Permitting good Laying and Excellent Interlock between the Faces.

STRENGTH

Being made of Concrete, the Pavers get Stronger with Age.

SKID RESISTANCE

Concrete Segmental Pavers have Excellent Skid Resistance. Being Cementitious in their Nature, Concrete Pavers are Resistance to Moss and Lichen Growth which can cause a Lowering in Skid Resistance in Other types of Paving.

COLOUR

Concrete Pavers are made in a Large Range of Colours Providing Designer with Opportunities not available in Other Products.

STABILITY

Concrete Segmental Pavers are not subject to Growth and do not require the Provision of Regular Movement Joints.

APPEARANCE

It improves pavements Appearance, and at Low Sun Angles it Minimizes Shadows.

DRY SURFACE

The Chambers on the Top Surface provided Acts as funnel to Drain off the Water if at All Left on the Surface and keeps Top surface always Dry.

RUTTING

This type of Road Pavements Prevents Rutting on the road Surface.

Pavement Design

Taking into Account the Nature of the Road and after allowing for Building Construction Traffic, following Points to be Considered for Construction of Pavement.

  • After Site Investigation a Design Sub - Grade CBR of 5 % is Considered Appropriate.
  • Kerbstone / Edge Restraints to be used subject to Availability of Conventional Type, Cast in Place, Kerbs or Precast Kerbs. The Most Important Features to Remember when Constructing these Sorts of Kerbs/ Restraints are

Water does not flow uphill.

Select a Profile which has Vertical side, which Abuts the segmental Pavers.

Extend the Base Course Material below the Kerbs.

Planning the Pavement Operation

  • Ensure the Edge Restraints are Located Firm.
  • Check the Base Course Level to enable to have the Proper Surface Height after Laying the Blocks.
  • Check & Place Order for Sufficient Sand for Bedding.
  • Check Manholes & Drains Pits, if they Obstruct the Laying & Take Care for Proper Level & Covers.
  • Plan for Paving as per Laying Specifications.

Conclusion

A Successful Pavement Design Relies on Three Major Factors :

  • A Correct Engineering Solution being Selected after a thorough analysis of Site and Traffic Conditions have been Carried Out.
  • Correct Design Details being Selected so that Considerations of Durability, Aesthetic, Economy and Structures and Fulfilled.
  • Correct Construction Procedures being Employed during the construction of Pavement.
